Lettre de candidature

Monsieur Th... D

France

Recent graduate seeking full time employment in an international organization, related to the energy sector and focused on Asia-Pacific, in which I can build off my experiences utilizing my knowledge of French, English, Spanish and Chinese Mandarin

OBJECTIVE

To obtain a position with a focus on
Asia-Pacific, in an organization deeply involved in understanding governments’
policies and regulations to speed the transition to a more sustainable economy
accompanying the huge energy stakes ahead this region, and where I could follow
using and learning mandarin in my day-to-day work (as much as possible) in
addition to my Spanish, English and French.

COVER LETTER

Dear Sir or Madam,

Graduated from a Master’s Degree in Energy, Finance, and Carbon in the School
of Industrial Organization at Paris Dauphine University, I am eager to enhance
my skill set by entering into an international environment such as yours.
First
of all, I am able to carry out macro-level economic analysis on countries,
sectors, industries, and I have developed this analytical capacity not only
during my studies in International Economics and Development, in France,
but also by going abroad, both in Argentina (Catholic University of Argentinain
Buenos Aires) and China (Peking University). There, I have totally experimented
what Claude Lévi-Strauss used to qualify as the “ground theory” which have
participated in widening my perception and understanding of countries’
strategic sectors and population needs in terms of development (particularly
the importance of energy supply and demand to get people a chance to escape
from various poverty trap mechanisms). As a consequence, the challenges to read,
identify, and quantify the needed investments expected for such a goal, and
which are today a main part of the equation for most of the developing and
least developed countries, have started to be more evident for me and drawn my
interest.
Thanks
to my academic background, I could bring to your organization my cutting edge
knowledge on lots of energy fields, everyday on the schedule of national
policies, companies, local authorities (energy efficiency and security, fiscal
aspects linked to GHG emissions, innovation strategies as “frugal innovation”
thinking up new solutions ...). I also have developed an in-depth understanding
of the following areas:

- Energy
markets (oil, gas, coal and electricity), - Project
development and management, - Tools
linked to mitigation policies,

Then,
regarding my professional experience, I have worked in a political movement
close to the French government where I learned to perform under stressful
conditions due to the high-level responsibilities associated with the position.
I also understood the important role of public-private partnerships and
financial institutions in order to set up new socio-economic
projects. Additionally, I have always been interested in working in a
worldwide organization. This interest brought me, in 2012, to be intern at the
Ethics office of the United Nation High Commissioner for Refugees and then to
follow a second internship at the Asian Pacific Branch of the energy company
EDF. In this way, I have experience working abroad in
Geneva, Beijing and London as well. For
the first semester of this year, I have participated in a student program at
Peking University to reinforce my language skills by learning Mandarin and
getting more opportunities to work in Asia. As a result, I have gained
professional competence in English, Spanish, Chinese Mandarin in addition to my
first language, French. I am excited by the idea of using my “capabilities”
(within the meaning of Amartya Sen) to serve international causes.

I
believe I will thrive in a suitable position due
to my strong adaptability and perseverance. Quick learner, I am able to cope with multiple tasks
in a fast-paced and team oriented environment.

Thank
you for taking the time to consider my application.

I
look forward to hearing from you soon.

Respectfully
yours,

Monsieur Th... D...
